This section includes all the necessary information that will help you pack your bags for your Libyan Airlines flight.
Baggage contents
Baggage admitted for carriage may only contain personal items that are necessary for wear, use, comfort or convenience in connection with the trip.
Goods that may be imported into Libya without incurring customs duty include 200 cigarettes or 250g of tobacco or 250g cigars and 250ml of perfume.
Dangerous Goods & Prohibited Imports
For security and safety reason passengers are not allowed to carry the following items in their checked-in or carry-on baggage.
- Briefcases and security type cases with alarm devices installed; or those incorporating lithium batteries and/or pyrotechnic material.
- Explosives, weapons, fireworks and flares.
- Gases (filterable, non-filterable, deeply refrigerated and poisonous) such as camping gas and aerosols.
- Flammable liquids such as lighter fuels, paints and thinner.
- Flammable solids, such as matches and articles, which are easily ignited; substances liable to spontaneous combustion, substances, which on contact with water emit Flammable gas.
- Oxidizing substances (such as bleaching powder and peroxides)
- Poisonous (toxic) and infectious substances.
- Radioactive material.
- Corrosives (such as mercury which may be contained in thermometers, acids, alkalis and wet-cell batteries);
- Disabling devices such as mace, pepper spray, etc.
- Import of alcohol and drugs
- Obscene literature
- Pork and pork products
- Libyan antiquities

Baggage Allowance
For your safety and comfort we have provided baggage allowances for each class of service.
Checked-in Baggage weight is as follows
- First Class 50 kgs
- Business Class 40 kgs
- Economy Class 30 kgs
Excess baggage will be subject to additional fees, to be collected at the airport. For excess baggage rates please contact your local Libyan Airlines sales office.
Carry-on Baggage
One piece of Carry-on baggage is allowed in the cabin. Its weight must not exceed 5 Kgs.
Allowed Carry-on Items include:
- An umbrella or walking stick;
- A small camera and / or a pair of binoculars;
- A reasonable amount of reading material for the flight;
- Infant's food for consumption during flight;
- Infant's carrying basket;
- A pair of crutches, and / or braces needed by passenger;
- Lap-top personal computer.
- Mobile Phones; please do not use the during your flight
Lost or Delayed Baggage
- Passengers must report their lost baggage before leaving airport arrivals, and provide all their contact details such as address, phone number and email address.

Animals (pets) in the passenger cabin
- Transportation of live animals such as dogs, cats, etc. in the passenger cabin is limited. Please contact your local office for information
- The carriage of pets is not allowed in the First class Compartment;
- “Seeing-eye dogs” and “Hearing dogs” may be accepted free of charge in the cabin if the blind passenger depends on it. The dog should be muzzled and harnessed.
- Pets must be placed inside their cages with their food and water.
- Provide a valid medical certificate for the pet.
- Excess weight will be charged depending on the weight of the animal and the cage.
Baggage Packing Tips
- Make sure that your baggage is properly packed
- You should not include perishable items, money, jewelry, business documents or dangerous goods inside your baggage.
- We would like to remind our customers to label their baggage as this will help us identify the owner in case the bags are lost during transportation.
